Focus has been lacking in this project, so it's time someone made a call. Given that the most work has been put into it, theme theme for our game will be horror. I hope this decision will help all of you to focus. I'll be dedicating the next day or two to streamlining my posts to fit this final theme. In that vein, here are the key elements of it as I recall them:
1. The capture object is a Scarecrow. There are magic trees about the battlefield which grow Apples rapidly. When fed to the Scarecrow it gets heavier. From a story standpoint, Scarecrows keep the Pumpkin Witch's massive army at bay and the more Apples they eat the stronger that effect becomes.
2. Pumpkinhead is the main villain of the story. He is the demon-touched son of the Pumpkin Witch and took centuries to mature. Early on he was raised by the Good Wizard, the man who created the Scarecrows to defend against the Pumpkin Witch's revenge. When his father was killed by an apple related accident, Pumpkinhead went into hiding and eventually discovered his mother's still animated body and his own nature. These findings and much time twisted him to evil.
3. There are four Factions, one for each of the sisters who were deceived by Pumpkinhead into unleashing the Pumpkin Curse upon humanity. They were the worst cursed, turning into cardinal monsters save for one. While from a gameplay standpoint each Faction is the same, each sister is different and their personality will reflect on their army. The only human sister remaining is the most magically gifted but has been captured by Pumpkinhead, so her Faction and his are one and the same.
4. The class changing object is a Mask. Masks have the power to change cursed Skeletons into a number of different monsters. They were invented by the Good Wizard and used in the war that eventually let to the Pumpkin Witch's capture. Sealed away during the careful peace that followed, the revival of the Pumpkin Curse leads to them being discovered again.
I've smoothed over a lot of it, so feel free to remind me of a key factor if I've missed it. For the full story and other suggestions, check Proposed Horror Theme and Theme Proposals
